SEO Writing Tips
Some of you may have been writers for quite some time already. I’m pretty sure most of you got what it takes to create an article that can capture the hearts of your readers. But for those who are working online and writing for the web, have you got any idea on how to REALLY write for the web? I’m talking about writing articles, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) style.
From this day forward, I will try and deliver SEO writing tips daily, not just for you to apply them on the articles you are currently writing, but also to prepare you for future employers who will hire you for writing jobs. Most writing jobs online require you to have knowledge and background on SEO. You’d be surprised to realize that in the end, you will not regret following this post about SEO writing tips. If you internalize and apply every tip on SEO writing I will be posting here, I’m sure your employers will be happy to know that you have taken an extra step to provide more quality articles for the web.
SEO Writing tip #1: Use keyword phrases, not keywords.
For those who don’t know what keywords are here’s a bit of information for you:
Using keywords in the articles increases the relevance of the contents in the article. You can write as many articles as much you want but without using keywords, the quality of the article is not at its best.. Keywords provide the best way to optimize websites with the use of it in articles. To make the process of research easy for the users and also to increase the efficiency of the search engines, keywords are frequently used by those writing for the web.
You must understand that when writing about a topic and using a single word, such as “diamond” through out the article is such a general term. Most people, when searching for diamonds on Google, will tend to input phrases such as “diamonds online” or “diamond engagement rings”. There are so many phrases you can make out with just one word which will relate to your topic. Think about what words you will search as a user and use those words as keyword phrases through out your article.
By using keyword phrases, you will be able to bring users searching for that specific service or product offered to your company website.
Do not waste your time using keywords that no one will even think of searching for in Google or Yahoo.
One caution though. Never use several keywords or keyword phrases in your articles. What I mean is, if you are optimizing the word “diamond engagement ring”, use only that phrase all over your article. Concentrate on using one keyword or keyword phrase. When you mix up several keyword phrases, you end up with either no search engine results directing to your article or no ranking at all.
