Internet Problems Can Highly Affect Online Freelancers
After more than 24 hours of internet problems here in our area, we finally have our connection working again. Thanks to the heroes behind the repair of the
underwater internet cables in Taiwan, now I can go back to working online. It’s unusual for our area to experience this kind of interruption. I actually think this is the first time it has ever happened.
To think that Philippines had more than 24 hours of internet shut-down made me ponder on many things. The shut-down made me realize that I have been so attached to my work online, it seemed like I couldn’t last a day without it. But, hallelujah! Here I am, alive and back online! Those long hours without access to the internet have been the worst hours of my online career. Just thinking about the deadlines I have to make up to sent chills down my spine. I’m really not used to delaying work. When I get a task or an assignment assigned to me by my clients, I immediately get on with it. This may be the reason why I get good feedback from them. To procrastinate is not part of my characteristics and I totally hate it if I get leftover work. What needs to be done today, MUST be completed today.
I’m just glad I got to inform my clients about the internet problems before our internet access got totally cut off. As I check my email today, I am relieved that nobody has fired me. I just pray this event won’t ever happen again or else it would be another tough day for online freelancers like me.
